McKinney High School Prom 2013

Well Happy  Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there.  I hope you are being spoiled rotten.  Today I am a proud mom of a beautiful young lady (and two adorable redheads) who went to her first prom last night.  All I can say is wow!  She and her date looked out of this world.  They are the sweetest couple.  We were already scheduled for a super fun wedding, but I was able to get some images on the way out.  Thanks to Shay at Bronzy Buns for a tan booster and Tiffany at Shelby & Co. for the wonderful makeup and hair and to Charlotte (my mother in law), Terri and Kristen for being the fairy Godmothers who found the perfect dress.   And thanks for everyone for indulging me and my pride-swollen self.  Enjoy your beautiful day ladies!

DIY Done Right/Cosha and Adam- Weston Gardens Wedding

From the moment I received the wedding invitation with a stamp of this lovely couple emblazoned on the envelope, I knew their day was going to be something special.  Did I mention that her sister hand carved that stamp for them?   Oh ya.  Well the day did not disappoint.  Cosha and Adam and their amazing family all came together for one incredible wedding.  As a DIY bride myself I know how hard it is.  Because as awesome as Pinterest is, sometimes things are not quite as doable as they appear to be online.  But Cosha pulled it off and it was beautiful, fun and thoughtful.  From the homemade desserts and salsa to the photobooth that included a framed photo of her late grandmother, everything had a story.   What stands out to me was what the officiant mentioned during their ceremony.  He noted how Cosha and Adam were so much more focused on their guests than themselves on this very special day.  That they really wanted it to be a celebration of everyone closest to them.

Enjoy their beautiful day and feel free to “Pin” away.  Kudos  and congratulations to you Cosha and Adam!

All homemade desserts featuring gooey butter cake muffins indigenous of her home state Missouri.

The Wisteria was the perfect backdrop from every angle.

Cosha and her family collected various china plates in the months preceding the wedding for a perfect vintage feel.

Ok listen.  If this is not the cutest idea in the world!  This little guy ROCKED it.  (get it ring BEAR-er)

Cosha and Adam wanted a first look.  I don’t usually get to do those, but it turned out awesome!

Cosha’s future brother-in-law made the salsa.

Weston Gardens is a little jewel with so many vignettes.

So yes, they made this themselves.  How awesome is that.  We had lots of fun images with this.

The guests seemed to love showering the couple with lavender after the ceremony.  It smelled amazing before, during and after the ceremony.

YES TACO! was the caterer of the evening.  It was perhaps the best taco I have ever had.  I highly recommend them.

Cosha & Adam Engagement McKinney, Tx

I met Cosha through a friend last summer.  She had moved to Texas from Missouri where I lived for a few years when IBM transferred me in the early oughts.  As she described her wedding, I knew it was going to be something special and I definitely wanted to be a part of it.  Later this week, you’ll see what an incredible job she and her family did.  Here are Cosha and her fiancee, Adam’s engagement photos.  I think they are absolutely darling.

Sixteen Candles at The NYLO Legacy

A little over sixteen years ago I lay in a hospital room, induced for labor for the third time in a week.  I had all the people I loved the most with me to witness the birth of the most wonderful, gorgeous baby girl ever, Lillian Rose.  I remember weeping at the sight of her.  Every year on that special day in April I try to repay her for the insurmountable joy that she gave me back in 1997.   So this year, on her sweet sixteen Johnny and I wanted to celebrate the precious child that has given us so many smiles.

It was a nerve wracking endeavor to try to surprise the “hub” of our family, but I think we actually did it.  I had had my eye on the NYLO Legacy hotel for quite some time.  We had done a day of shooting there before and I remember the people being so accommodating and the restaurant food at (LOCL) being surprisingly delicious.  I cannot tell you how thankful I am to them for helping us out with this and in such little time.  We had an amazing evening, dining al fresco in a perfect tent that looked onto their courtyard.  The gentleman that took care of us for the evening, Blessings, was awesome.   The food did not disappoint and every need we had was met.  Even though she was sick with a sinus infection, I truly think Lily was blown away by the evening.  For someone who requested a low-profile at home dinner, she ended up being a good sport and even wearing the sash and tiara I bought.  It was, in a word, perfect.  Thank you to the NYLO Legacy for everything.  Did I happen to mention the day she turned 16, she had a job?  Great kid!

The tent was a perfect way to enjoy the courtyard and stay comfortable.

Lily and my Dad, Poppi, are peas in a pod.

Lily and Brooks having some fun while we wait for all the guests.

What Sweet Sixteen party would be complete without a big red bow?

And there it is, the smile.

followed by more smiling

and yet more smiling.

This is LOCL’s spinach dip.  It was crazy good.

Flatbreads that whet the appetite.

And even more smiles.

And the cool pose.

The food was rolled out to us on this wooden table.  Pretty impressive.

Lily and Aunt Glo.

Lily and her Dad.

Lily and Blessings.  Doesn’t he just look happy?
